MESSAGE FROM ATHLETIC DIRECTOR ROB SPEAR

The ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center – the Kibbie Dome – is the heart and soul of University of Idaho athletics. As one of only two indoor, on-campus Division 1A stadiums in the nation and the only one in the West, the Dome is a signature facility in the world of intercollegiate athletics. Generations of Vandal fans, families and friends know the Dome is the best place in Idaho to be on a football Saturday in the fall. The University of Idaho Athletics Department aspires to be among the premier intercollegiate athletic programs in the nation. But after over 30 years of service, the Dome and the University of Idaho need some help. To continue our winning tradition and to attract the best athletes, coaches and staff, the Dome needs to be modernized. In the past four years, we have made significant improvements to our athletic facilities:

  • The $3.3 million Norman and Becky Iverson Strength and Conditioning Center
  • Updated locker rooms and added offices and maintenance facilities
  • The grass practice fields were converted to SprinTurf and now benefit not just athletics, but our campus recreation program and the community.
  • New state-of-the-art video replay board
  • RealGrass Pro football field inside the dome
  • A $1 million training room and football team rooms with construction beginning January 2008
Now, we turn our attention to the Dome.
Our goal is straightforward: to create an unparalleled game-day experience for our fans – and for our team – by creating one of the most intimidating, home-field advantages in intercollegiate sports – an atmosphere that will bring the fans “into the game.” How? By developing a state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind facility that is a source of pride for the entire campus. This bold renovation and expansion project will truly be transformational. With the help of your generous investment, we will revolutionize the Dome in dramatic and innovative ways that will not only benefit our student-athletes, but the greater University of Idaho and Moscow/Pullman communities, as well. Help us make it happen – get involved. I invite you to become a part of this exciting project that will continue and strengthen the Kibbie Dome’s legacy as the proud home of the University of Idaho Vandal Athletics.
