Emergency Procedures

The University of Idaho prides itself on a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. At the same time, we recognize that each of us as individuals and our community as a collective whole needs to be aware of policies, procedures and systems that help us respond to incidents that may arise.

The university has an institution-wide emergency response plan. The plan outlines specific roles for key sectors of the campus in time of emergency response. Key university personnel and departments engage in an annual emergency response exercise.

The emergency response plan is activated by a Critical Incident Response Team that calls upon appropriate resources and takes specific actions to respond to-and communicate to the community about-a given incident.

Safety and security at the University of Idaho are provided through contracted services with the City of Moscow Police Department, which works closely and is in regular contact with the institution to assess safety and security issues. Federal agencies, the closest of which are located in Lewiston and Coeur d'Alene, provide support to the University through coordination with the Moscow Police.
