Volunteer for one of the 2008 projects below or for 2009 submit a project idea for consideration to be added to the list. New projects ideas can be emailed to campusday@uidaho.edu. For next year, outdoor and indoor projects ideas can be submitted at any time before March 1st, 2009.
Example: Your department or college wants to reorganize a storage closet but never can find the time to complete the project, Campus day is the perfect day. You can submit this project and the number of people who will be participating. Facilities will help coordinate the things you need to make this successful (i.e. extra trash removal, etc.)
Note: Please dress appropriately for all projects. Long pants and closed toed shoes are recommended, for your safety please no sandals. Bring gloves and if choosing to work on the yearly litter and debris cleanup squad... bring a leaf rake from home as well.
Maps of the project areas will be available at the Campus Day Booth when you sign up.
Art and Architecture Central Rain Harvest Project

Art and Architecture Central - East Side
Involves soil, gravel, paver, and wall stone work. Possibly some tree planting as well. This demonstration sustainability project was started last year and should be finished by Commencement this year.
Aquaculture Windbreak & Sunscreen

Aquaculture Research Building - West Side
Involves planting hardy tree whips and seedlings around the Aquaculture Research Building on 6th street to eventually provide heat reduction and wind reduction to the metal building housing the fish tanks.
Campus Cleanup

Commons Plaza & Other Drop Off Sites - See Map
Involves general litter and garbage pickup across the width and breadth of campus. Volunteers may go to any area of campus they wish for this aerboic excursion. Areas that tend to have a lot of litter for pickup are Paradise Creek; Family Housing; University Residences; SRC swale; Parking Lot edges, and other Fringe areas of campus. Bags can be picked up at the Info Booth and at other campus location drop off sites.

Remove RR ties; Grade RR frontage from CNA Building North and level; Pickup and remove weeds, litter & debris; Create Gravel Path from HR Building to Paradise Pathway.
Wetlands Improvement Project

Wetlands Area - South of WalMart Across Highway
The first of many exciting development projects for the University of Idaho Wetlands area. This particular project involves removal of an old barb wire fence and posts that separates University of Idaho Property from the Paradise Path for an overall aesthetic improvement of the site.
Family Housing Playground Improvement Project

This project may include digging out & removing existing play structures, pouring concrete footings, securing new play structures, painting, and raking bark in the in the Family Housing area.
Family Housing Retaining Wall Project

Extend and improve an existing wall to encompass all of the erosion problems in that area. This project involves using gravel, hand tools, keystone block, and topsoil.
University of Idaho Golf Course Tree Planting - Phase II

Continuation of a phased planting plan to install hardy/long-lived tree whips and seedlings around various sites at the Golf Course to replace lost trees and promote sustainability.
