Admission Requirements

  • New Students - You are considered a new student if you are applying directly from high school or if you have fewer than 14 college credits since high school graduation.
  • Transfer Students - You are considered a transfer student if you have 14 or more transferable college credits since high school.
  • International Students - You are considered an international student if you are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
  • NIC Joint Admission Students - You are considered a joint admission student if you are a current or prospective NIC student who plans to earn a bachelors degree.
  • Non-Degree Students - You are considered a non-degree student if you are not seeking a formal University degree. There are limitations on the amount of credits you can take and what financial aid you will be eligible for.
  • High School Students - If you are a current high school student or have not yet obtained your GED and you wish to take a University of Idaho course, you can duel enroll in that course before you even complete high school.
  • Returning Students - You are considered a returning student if you are a former University of Idaho student returning after more than 2 years from the date of your last attendance.
  • Law Students - Find information about admissions and application requirements from the law school.
  • Graduate Students - Find information about admissions and application requirements from the graduate school.

If you do not meet the published criteria at the time of review, you may apply to the Admissions Committee for consideration.
