Mission of the Management Systems Directors Group (MSDG):

The MSDG will provide a policy setting and recommendation forum for the directors of administrative areas who have functional responsibility for components of and related administrative processes of the university's integrated management information systems. These administrative areas include Alumni, Business and Accounting Services, Budget, Development/Foundation, Facilities Services, Financial Aid/Admissions, Human Resources, Institutional Research, Registrar, Trusts and Investments, Information Technology Services, Auxiliary Services, and New Student Services.
- 1) The group uses this forum to assure the management systems environment operates in a distributed, yet integrated system environment by:

- Determining cross-functional policies, and passing issues on to the UI Executive Council as appropriate and/or necessary
- Resolving cross-functional issues
- Providing guidance for software and hardware upgrade schedules
- Integrating information obtained from the various university and user committees related to the various management systems and areas, i.e., Timekeepers Advisory Group, Management Advisory Group, Computing Policy Advisory Group, Student Computing Advisory Committee, Functional Systems Support Group, Records Policy Advisory Committee, etc.
- Outlining future needs and develop a management systems strategic plan including financial and operational plans to meet those needs
- Communicating policies, recommendations and decisions to the appropriate councils and university units
- To formalize a relationship and provide guidance and support to the Functional Systems Support Group

2) Ensure support of the Information Resources and Technology group for the complementary and compatible availability and use of the management systems environment to accomplish every day business and integrate with the academic support needs.
