Strategic Action Plan Implementation

Vision, Values, and Directions
Strategic Action Plan 2005-2010

The University of Idaho Strategic Action Plan is a concise document that provides the road map for the University of Idaho as we enter the beginning of a new historical  era.  Dedicated faculty and staff, and engaged students are poised to work toward

the University’s aspirations across its units and locations. We begin with optimism, enthusiasm, foresight, and dreams for the future. We will collaboratively undertake these tasks working together to further strengthen our grand institution, chart a new course and fulfill the role of the University of Idaho in helping our students, the state, and beyond.

Implementation will require that each of us individually and in our work groups

examine the plan to determine how we can best help achieve the goals and objectives. It will require that we examine our current practices to ensure we are acting within its framework. It will require us to seek new ways to effectively employ our skills to advance progress toward the goals. It will require that we look outside of our traditional lines of operation to form partnerships and increase communication for meaningful reform. It will require personal ownership for success.

To help individuals and work groups plan and execute their strategic changes, implementation teams have been formed for each of the four Strategic Action Plan goals. The teams will act as resources for the university as its members work on the implementation steps. The implementation teams’ membership is composed of faculty, staff and students selected through a nomination process which generated over 280 nominees. Team members will work closely with faculty, staff, administrators, Faculty Council and faculty governance, Staff Affairs and Student Leadership. The intended outcome is to identify critical strategies to be employed across the institution, develop alternatives and examples to facilitate implementation, and act as an information resource for the colleges and other administrative units. A portion of the membership on teams will rotate off each year to enable broad ongoing participation and representation.

The Strategic Action Plan requires ownership at the individual level and collectively at the unit level. Using the plan as a guide to our behaviors, we will better serve our State constituencies. The outcome of positive change and opportunity will increase the quality of all of our lives.
